Thank You Generators for Creating Life and Chaos
Nothing could be more important than using your energy correctly
I am currently working on my manuscript – STOP MAKING DECISIONS WITH YOUR MIND – my story of overcoming PTSD and becoming ridiculously happy. But the truth is, you only need to know two things from the Human Design system to transform your life. Ok, knowledge isn’t exactly enough. You would also have to practice what everyone in the Human Design world refers to as your “strategy and authority”. When you hear “strategy” it’s related to the nature of your aura, how it connects with others, and therefore how to use your energy correctly which also effectively interrupts the mind’s need for control of decision-making. The second element, your authority, is how you are designed to make decisions correctly.
In my last article – The Voice of Inner Truth Grunts – I wrote about sacral authority. Your authority is related to your aura. When you have a defined sacral center, your energy type is that of a GENERATOR. This reference to a generator only has to do with the nature of your aura and not necessarily your authority; that’s why I separated these two major topics. I am a generator with sacral authority but as you will see generators can also have emotional authority. Both have sacral definition and therefore the same type of energy field but they make decisions differently.
Your aura is how you connect with others. Your authority is how you make decisions. It is essential to understand that those two things go hand in hand, your aura and authority but are completely different operating mechanics.
Your aura is external. It surrounds your body and is a product of your Design. It isn’t something you experience directly or have any control over to change. Your experience of your aura is indirectly experienced in relation to others. Your authority is internal to you and you have a direct experience of it while others do not. No one can have power over you once you become grounded in your authority. You become unshakable in the face of life.
Let’s get the technical things out of the way so there is no confusion.
ONE GENERATOR AURA – 4 Body Graph Configurations; which one are you, if any (you may not be a generator)?
1. Pure generator; the sacral center (red square) is defined AND has sacral authority (red square). The solar plexus (white triangle to the right) is undefined. [See my body graph below]
2. Emotional generator; the sacral center (red square) is defined AND has emotional authority (brown triangle). The solar plexus (brown triangle) is defined. [See below the body graph of Elvis Presley]
3. Manifesting generator; the sacral center (red square) is defined AND has sacral authority (red square). The solar plexus (white triangle to the right) is undefined. The throat center (top brown square) is defined through a connection to a motor center. [See below the body graph of Arnold Schwarzenegger]
4. Emotional manifesting generator; the sacral center (red square) is defined AND has emotional authority (brown triangle to the right). The solar plexus (brown triangle to the right) is defined with the throat center (top brown square) defined through a connection to a motor center. [See below the body graph of Clint Eastwood]
Notice how all four configurations all have the same red square, sacral center defined. The sacral center is a motor and is what is creating the energy field.
The above body graphs are samples to help you understand your body graph. Your body graph will be unique to you. I have emphasized the elements that distinguish each configuration to help you understand your nature. If you haven’t already done so, here is the link to Get Your Chart
Please don’t get confused. A manifesting generator is not a hybrid between a generator and a manifestor. A manifesting generator has the same aura as a generator. A manifestor does not have the same aura as a generator or manifesting generator.
Generator Auric Nature
As the term implies, generators actually generate life force energy. It was Ra Uru Hu’s mission to wake up generators because we are designed to be self-aware but as long as we continue to not operate correctly – to not follow our inner authority – it is generators who are creating the chaos in the world! You see generators make up 66% of the population. That includes both generators (35.83%) and manifesting generators (30.44%). These statistics were taken from Rave Statistics (jovianarchive.com) April 2024. It is this energy, it is a motor after all, that all other types want to tap into. Only generators have that sacral center defined.
I don’t know if you get the significance of that point – of how generators are responsible for creating chaos in the world today. I know I suffered deeply with the need to know my life purpose. To know that I was serving my life purpose at all times. I had so much emotional and physical trauma in my life, learning my life lessons the hard way, whenever I was unable to work because I was ill, I suffered.
Human Design does show you what your life purpose is. That’s what attracted me to this system in the first place. It’s described as your Incarnation Cross. The only thing I will point out here is the differences between a Left Angle Cross, a Right Angle Cross or Juxtaposed Incarnation Cross.
I have a Left Angle Cross as does 33% of the world’s population. We are here to serve others, and to clean up karma, in a unique way. People with a Right Angle Cross, 64% of the population, are here to live their lives for themselves again, in a unique way. Another small percentage of the population, less than 3%, have a Juxtaposed Cross which means they have a fixed life path and are either creating destiny as they cross paths with others or are meeting old energies in their line of geometry but either way, they are here for the ride free from either pressure to serve others or of being self-focused.
I bring this to your attention for those who are like me, with a Left Angle Cross, AND are generators like me; nothing could be more important than using your energy correctly. That’s all you really need to know to fulfill your life purpose.
Ra Uru Hu said it himself;
“When you live as yourself your cross takes over your life. The characteristics in your Design don’t matter when you are living your purpose. Purpose allows you to transcend the problems of your characteristics. That’s the magic of being yourself, because the moment you really are living your nature your cross will take over, your purpose will take over and out of that will come its archetypal demand and the opportunity to be fulfilled in that way, whatever that way happens to be.” [source: The Definitive Book of Human Design pg. 286]
Understanding this freed me from having to figure out my life's purpose. To always make sure I was on track with how I was living. I instinctually knew I serve as a Role Model so being true to myself is of the utmost importance. To walk my talk rather than the motto I was raised on, “Do as I say, not as I do”. I could boil down my life purpose to one thing, and this is true for all generators, to use my energy correctly by making decisions correctly serves the greater good because it does impact the global energy field and therefore can help restore peace in the world just by being me. My life purpose is no longer defined by what I do with my life, as in a specific career, but how I live my life. That is a huge shift for any generator because we are designed to work, to be productive.
We have been conditioned to behave like we're all Manifestors, to initiate. “Just Do It,” says Nike. The way our auras operate, the Human Design system describes it as “open and enveloping”. What this means is that our auras, as generators, are bidirectional. There is an energy exchange. You generate energy. You put out energy into the global energy field and you take in the energy of others. Your aura is like a sponge taking in energetic information. But you can also experience others as parasitic. They suck out your energy leaving you feeling drained after being exposed to them. It all depends on how each of us is designed and how we connect. Some people will leave us feeling good, and full of energy, while others do the opposite.
I used to believe I had to help everyone who asked for help. As a generator, that’s correct. We are designed to RESPOND but just because we’re ASKED doesn’t mean we have to say yes. That may be obvious to you but it wasn’t obvious to me because I am so driven to be of service to others which also has to do with my open (white) centers. If the energetic connection doesn’t feel correct, if I feel drained from my interaction with someone then this is an indicator that the relationship is not healthy for me. We are not designed to like everyone or anyone. We are not designed to give our energy to everyone and anyone. It’s ok to say no and limit who you give access to your energy.
Sacral Motor
The sacral center is a motor. It generates your aura and it generates life force energy. It may be your authority but it is not an awareness center. It’s simply a source of fuel for your body. It can say yes or no according to whether you have energy available or not in response to life.
Of the four possible motors in the Human Design system, sacral, emotional, root, or ego centers, the sacral center is the one that can sustain activity. The other three motors do not continuously generate energy. That is why everyone wants to have access to this energy source.
It is also why the “Law of Attraction” works for about 70% of the population. Supporters of the theory of the “Law of Attraction” state that you need to have a clear vision of what you want and is desire-based. If the “Law of Attraction” isn’t working for you it’s because you don’t want it bad enough to have it manifest in your life. But in reality, the generator aura creates a magnetic force that attracts everything you need in your life, whether you want it or not! Remember the incident I described in my article – Your Mind Is Your Nemesis – about the roadside mailbox?
As a motor, it gets recharged during your sleep. So, your sleep pattern is critical to your well-being. It also needs to be fully depleted before going to bed. How much energy you have is also dependent on how many other motors your sacral is connected to in your body graph – whether you have a single definition like me or a split definition like Clint Eastwood (above).
It’s too much to get into the functional dynamics of the difference between single and split definitions. All that you need to know is that having a single definition allows you to have direct access to all your energy. Whereas, people with split definitions will feel differently about what energy they have access to when they are alone versus when they are with people. It’s their connection with specific people that will help them access their energy, which is fine for short periods when you’re awake. But this also means it can cause sleep disturbances when sleeping with a partner.
To illustrate this, here are two body graphs. Each one, alone, will have their individual energy signature. One has five open centers and the other has four.
“Her” (above)
“His” (above)
Here is how they experience themselves when they are together. (Below)
Unified field - Two into One
It’s no wonder we have the expression, “You complete me”, as you see together, they only have one open center. If they sleep together the one with four open centers will have no problem falling asleep because all that mental activity will be calmed by going into her open Crown and Ajna centers. Plus, she has a defined spleen and he does not so she makes him feel safe. During the day, they will have lively conversations (that shared connection between the emotional center and the throat center 12-22) but come night time, she’s going to have trouble sleeping next to him.
Here’s another example of how our sacral motor works with another motor. I have two motors. The sacral and the root center. The root center produces adrenaline in my body. I literally can feel my body vibrating when I am operating on an excess of adrenaline which can happen when I am in “survival mode”, that “fight or flight” instinct connected to my spleen. For people with an undefined root center, they feel pressure to hurry up to get things done and this pressure never gets relieved because there is always something else to get done. In my case, because my root center is defined, it works like a break for me. If I feel outside pressure trying to make me hurry, and I don’t view it as critical, I slow down. It's as if my body says, don't rush me I'm waiting until the last second!
How to Use Sacral Energy Correctly
TIP #1
As I just touched on, sleep is key. It is recommended that you sleep alone so that you only experience your energy. Sleep is how your body naturally recharges itself.
TIP #2
As a generator, you need to use up your energy before you go to bed.
When I was suffering from PTSD, I also suffered from insomnia, and this went on for years. Meditation and medication didn’t help. I even went through the whole sleep clinic process to “retrain my brain”. I will spare you the details. Going to bed early certainly didn’t help. That goes against how I am designed as a generator. I need to use up all my energy before I go to bed. I shouldn’t go to bed, “to unwind”. In my natural rhythm, come 8 p.m., if I haven’t had a very active day, that’s when I charge into action, doing housework, baking, writing until about midnight.
Generators shouldn’t go to sleep when you still have energy in your body. Because you will not be able to fall asleep. Instead, you most likely will get into your head and be stuck thinking about everything you need to do.
TIP #3
Similarly, you shouldn’t work past the point of exhaustion. This will also through off your sleep cycle. Remember, how much energy you have as a sacral being depends on how many motors are connected to your sacral motor.
TIP #4
Waiting to respond to life is about how everything has its own timing. Timing cannot be forced by initiating the process as you will only meet resistance and experience frustration. The thing about life is that we don’t have to wait for long as life will always provide us with something to respond to.
By taking a moment to pause, to WAIT, you will effectively interrupt the mind’s control over making every decision and begin the process of giving that control back to your body. It does take time and practice.
TIP #5
Generators are here to work and to enjoy the work they do. If your work only brings you frustration then you’re not doing the work you are meant to be doing.
TIP #6
When you are operating correctly, the sacral center knows when “enough is enough” and that applies to many things. When it’s time to stop working and refuel by eating. When it’s time to quit a job because it’s no longer working for you.
Generators can get a bad reputation as the great quitters in life. But the reason they quit is because they didn’t enter into that relationship (exchange of energy) correctly in the first place. They said yes when they should have said no. All because they didn’t know how to make decisions correctly. So, don’t feel ashamed if you have been labeled as a quitter. Now you know the why and it’s part of your design.
TIP #7
Because generators are here to respond to life, you need to let go of any and all expectations. Ironically, this does impact how well the “law of attraction” works for you as a generator. The better you are at letting go of expectations, the better life just works for you. It requires a leap of FAITH for the spirit to surrender to what will be without trying to control life.
TIP #8
Remember, generators need to be ASKED. Ask us what we want to do even if it was our idea in the first place! Ask us, what do we need? Ask us, what do we want? Oh, doesn’t that sound satisfying?
TIP #9
When you’re alone, and there is no one there to ask you a question to direct your energy, just follow your energy. I used to have impossible “To Do Lists”. When I started practicing living according to my Human Design, I still did the exercise of writing “To Do Lists” more as a brain dump so I didn’t have to remember every little thing to do. I had it there on paper. That took the mental pressure off. But I didn’t allow my mind to decide what to do. I would check in with my body.
What do I “feel” like doing? What feels right? What am I in the “mood” for or what am I “up” for? You’ll begin to see how your body responds. It either opens up and releases energy or pulls you in a certain direction. Or there is resistance, a lack of energy, and no drive to move forward.
For instance, I had something worthy of celebration. We tend to think celebration requires wine or champagne. So, I admit, I had it in mind to celebrate with a glass of wine. But when I went to the fridge, what my body reached for was chocolate milk! That's how my body wanted to celebrate this accomplishment. That's an example of how our mind thinks it knows what it wants. It can be fun to just witness the difference between what your mind thinks and what your body decides.
You don’t need to worry – you will still clean your toilet! It just won’t be a task you HAVE TO DO. When you do follow your energy doing chores is satisfying, instead of frustrating.
TIP #10
Own your power by setting clear boundaries. You decide what you do, when you do it, for how long, etc. and you decide who you want in your space. Don’t give your energy away for free to everybody.
I know this last tip sounds radical to implement overnight and you won’t be able to either. It starts with baby steps. Who are the people who drain your energy? Limit your time with them. Listening to your energy and your authority will show you where you need to make changes to your boundaries. If you have sacral authority, it will take time to make your mind a friend and dedicated observer so that you too can re-learn to trust that physical response in your body.

Friendly reminder…
It is my mission to expand your self-awareness and empower you to make decisions correctly, using my outer authority but never attempting to be YOUR authority. I ask you to keep in mind that I am only touching on a very small aspect of Human Design with each article. Whenever I share my example of my Human Design, it is only natural that you will compare it to your Human Design. For you to fully understand that aspect within your body graph it has to be seen within your whole structure, which I cannot do in an article. What we’re doing is looking at a single piece of a bigger puzzle. You don’t know what the big picture is from a single piece unless it’s seen in the whole picture.
I want to stimulate your curiosity to explore your Human Design using my Human Design as an example. If we have an aspect in common, it will only be at the surface level and not in terms of your whole picture. Be aware that the aspect may resonate with you but at the same time not quite, and that’s perfectly okay because we are each uniquely different.
I trust that my readers are intelligent and capable of experimenting with your Human Design to come to your own conclusions. Please don’t take me at my word! I want you to own your power and it starts with knowing your true self.
Coming Soon…
